Even though your mum thinks you're the best at what you do, you probably have room to grow.
Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
Oh my dear Nashville, it’s all above your head.
I’ve been following Dakota TimeLapse on Twitter, Facebook… well basically everything he does I drool over. I’ve always loved shooting at night. Along with stunning images he’s been so good as to include some of his settings. I’ve been testing out some of these looking for my own view. All images aside, it gets me out and it gets me shooting, and I couldn’t be happier about that.
I enjoy using household items to create fantasy settings. For this particular set, I used decorative rocks and candles to simulate an outdoor setting for the Lego Ninja and the toy alligator.

Concept: to get a more cloud/dust look with the metallic pigment I have typically introduced into my paintings mixed with a medium.
Execution: I had to find some way to apply the powder. I first coated the canvas with glaze so the powder would stick. I took a plastic flip top paint container and cut a hole in the top. I put the pigment in the container then stretched gauze tautly over the opening and snapped the lid shut with the cut out exposing the gauze. I used the back of a paint brush to tap this sifter both softly and harder.
Outcome: This created the perfect dust and then denser clouds I was seeking. Not to mention I could toss out the gauze and dump the left over pigment back in it’s container. I’m a sucker for easy clean up and not wasting expensive pigment. I feel like this really worked out great!
Welcome to 40 plus 20. Our goal is to provide a place that both inspires and encourages you to experiment with your art. We are dedicated not to product but to process. Here it is not about clean finished images, videos, songs, etc… it’s about what you go through when you try to execute an idea. Did it succeed? Did it fail? Did you discover something through the process?
